Job Description

Our merchandising department are expanding!

1) Objectives

a) Lead the own department sales growth and profitability, achieve Group business target and objective through effective merchandise planning, supplier management, category development and collaboration

b) Develop the own department strategy consistent with group business vision and policies, drive its execution and ensure effective implementation within the timeframe given

c) Build an employee’s mindset to drive the synergy across the department, focus on own department growth and achieve competitive advantage

d) Develop and sustain talent staff, train successor and potential leader for the own department

2) Key Roles & Responsibilities

a) Strategic supplier management Collaboration with suppliers to improve the business relationship and performance Focus on department Yearly contract trading terms, business agreement outright and consignment, sourcing of new suppliers and merchandise, rebate management, suppliers visit and business review

b) Merchandise Assortment, Pricing Policy and Strategy Setup, manage and control own department target in line with Group business target direction, mainly sales, gross profit, inventory and turnover Provide direction and strategy of merchandise assortment plan and classification for respective stores Execute the merchandising process and system through setting up SOP of merchandising

c) Strategic Sales Promotion & Marketing Plan promotion based on 26 weeks lifestyle and merchandise calendar, ensure effective business performance and support operation team on the implementation Lead and provide countermeasure on the sales recovery plan Utilize digitalization with the concept of shopping convenience to increase customer number

d) Direct Sourcing Merchandise Develop sourcing route for best quality merchandise locally or overseas at the best cost in order to achieve a higher profit margin Execute joint procurement, negotiate on necessary stock commitment, and improve trading terms, business agreement

e) Private brand/Exclusive items development Introduce new product/category based on customer demand/lifestyle Participate and collaborate with Topvalu team/suppliers to develop customer’s desired product, focus on cost efficiency and merchandise quality

f) Education/Succession Planning Provide necessary training to myself, develop a succession plan to maintain a dynamic and well balanced merchandising team with strong customer and market-driven mind and comply with company rules, company and purchasing code of ethics in merchandising

g) Sales Operation support To solve and support on merchandise availability, delivery frequency, promoter sampling, roadshows, pricing policy, promotion material

h) New/Renovation store Opening and Store visit Revise assortment based on sales performance and productivity

i) Education to store side Product knowledge, skill training and SOP

3) Job Requirements

a) Knowledge and Application
i) Broad knowledge of D&D merchandise, theoretical and practical knowledge
ii) Skill required Category management, department layout, display, cutting and overall department presentation

b) Problem Solving and Innovation

i) Requires conceptual and analytical thinking to understand complexes issues and its implication Provide solution in short/long term based on existing resources
ii) High observation on customer’s changing lifestyle and demand, react and develop further action plan to cater customer shopping behaviour

c) Leadership competencies expected of Head of Div
i) Establishing strategic direction
ii) Inspiring Excellence & driving change
iii) Energizing team member and developing capability/new talent
iv) Building strategic alliances with business partner, store operations, across HQ department and external stakeholders

d) Minimum 3 years of working experience in the Foodline is needed
