We are now inviting qualified individuals to join this team in the role of Manager, Lending & Transaction Management – GCB 5

Principal responsibilities

Implement and monitor the framework and strategy for new business and transaction approvals across the Corporate business in Malaysia Assist and support DPC Process for larger approvals, advising transaction structuring, assessing client plans and client strategies presented during DPC Assist to oversee the Sub DPC Process/frameworkWork with ASP Lending & Transaction Management, Portfolio Management, Credit Risk and Finance teams to drive RWA improvements and optimise pricing for lending products making sure that the customer is at the centre of all propositionsManage overall portfolio performance by closely monitoring returns, ancillary revenue tracking, low return client management and impairments Support frontline in managing the coverage process, pricing negotiation and structuring of transactionsDrive responses to thematic risk issues (eg sector reviews), with specific oversight for portfolio risk management from early warning indicators process (Worry / Watch / Monitor)Anticipate future market conditions in a changing business environment (incl pricing, risk, regulatory and customer insight), driving product portfolio performance and returnsSupport implementation of other Corporate lending and credit related strategiesWork closely with the Corporate Directors/Team Heads to achieve lending financial targets (P&L / balance sheet / RWAs / returns)Supporting the execution of Lending strategy working closely with the Corporate Directors/Team Heads, Risk, Marketing, Finance and other stakeholders, including provision of strategic direction and deep technical knowledgeDeliver improvements in Corporate’s customer satisfaction related to Access to Finance and Value for Money with regard to LendingWork closely with Portfolio Management and Product Management to set guidance and provide oversight to support the Corporate businessContribute to and influence setting strategy for the business, in line with the Corporate’s strategy, including defining short-medium-long term plans and prioritiesSupport achievement of the HSBC vision, values, goals and culture in personal behaviour, actions and decision making


A degree holder with at least 3-5 years of managerial experienceStrategic awareness and commercial acumenExperience in Commercial Banking including relationship management experience, with strong product knowledge and understanding of clientsStrong credit skills and a very good understanding of HSBC credit policy, procedure and risk appetiteGood understanding of lending practice, regulation and market development in MalaysiaStrong interpersonal skills with highly developed capacity to influence senior teamsAbility to engage other senior stakeholders, managers across a wide range of strategic iniatives and agendasDeveloped communication, presentation and influencing skill setProven problem solving skills with ability to consider alternative and innovative solutionsAbility to priorities and work independently under pressureAbility to use strong judgmental skills to identify and resolve complex problems whilst managing ambiguity, adhering to timelines and ensuring high quality of outputKeen attention to detailExperience of managing and delivering cross-functional programmes
