Job Description

The Pharmacist Quality Assurance is responsible for meticulous and diligent routine quality assurance testing of materials and components that are used in the manufacturing process, preparation of solutions for internal departments, the maintenance of laboratory documentation and equipment, and responsible for the Dangerous Drug Act & Poison Act regulation compliance

Duties & Responsibilities

Tests raw materials and components according to established written work instructions

Tests Consumables products post-production according to established written work instructions

Tests new materials and products before introduction into production processes

Set-up and maintain the chemical lab to meet ESH (Environmental Safety & Health), OHAS 18001 (Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series) and ISO 14001

Accommodate diverse tasks in a timely manner

Assists the Manufacturing Team with the development, introduction and timing of new testing methods and improvement of existing manufacturing procedures

Prepares and tests solutions for Calibration, Consumables and Customer Service departments according to established written work instructions

Calibrates pipettes, balances and other laboratory equipment according to established written work instructions

Leads and participates troubleshooting quality control process issues

Prepares and analyzes daily reports of quality control process results

Follows company policies and legislative requirements regarding health and safety including usage, care and storage of personal protective equipment

Provides training and guidance to the Manufacturing & Production Team regarding the usage of equipment

Ensures Process Specifications, MSDS and Equipment folders are current and up to date

Complies with state and federal drug laws as regulated by the state board of pharmacy, the drug enforcement administration, and the food and drug administration

The Pharmacist Quality Assurance to ensures compliance to quality requirements as dictated by current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)

Site alignment with Smiths Excellence System vision and strategy

Lead and identify through creative ways to reduce cost by streamlining processes and system

To work closely with all related stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation on all lean projects including tracking the project numerical savings

Perform other duties as assigned

Skills and Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in a Pharmacy or equivalent field of study

Registered Pharmacist to the Pharmacy Board of Malaysia

2+ years’ experience working with chemical solvents in a high-tech manufacturing or industrial environment is an advantage

Experience in Regulatory Affairs

Strong knowledge of Malaysia Dangerous Drug Act and Poison Act regulations, Quality Focus and Legal Compliance

Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices

Strong math and analytical skills

Knowledge/Experience in calibration and usage of chemical laboratory equipment and solutions preparation

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and internet

Knowledge of health and safety issues relating to laboratory work including general health and safety rules, hazard identification, OSHA and safe work practices

Ability to follow written work instructions and test procedures in a timely manner

Highly organized with well-developed time-management skills

Actively participate in and lead problem-solving discussions and testing to determine root cause and correct solutions to the various challenges

Strong manual dexterity and previous experience working with small hand tools

Strong communication skills, written, read and verbal and strict attention to details will be keys to success to this role

Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing demands and conflicting deadlines
